Brown Lentil Dal (Masoor Dal)
A very popular and flavorful Indian dish – Brown Lentilsare everyone’s favorite. It is very easy to put together and is loaded withproteins. Served with cooked rice, it makes a complete meal.
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Brown Lentils
- 2 Cups Tomatoes diced
- ¼ teaspoon Turmeric
- 1 Tablespoon Ginger diced
- 4 Cups Water
- Salt to taste
Other Ingredients:
- ½ teaspoon Cilantro Powder
- ½ teaspoon Cumin Powder
- ¼ teaspoon Garam Masala optional
- Juice of ½ lime
- ½ bunch Chopped Cilantro
Instructions
- Add the first 6 ingredients to a pan or Instant Pot.
- In 4Q Pan: Cover and cook for 25 mins on medium high. Once all the water is absorbed, no more water remains above the surface of the lentils, reduce heat to low and allow to cook for 10 mins, until completely cooked.
- In Instant Pot: Cook on High Pressure for 5 mins. Natural release of pressure.
- Add all the spices.
- Add Lime juice and chopped cilantro.
- Adjust salt to taste.
- Serve with cooked Rice or Millets or Quinoa!!!
