GF Sweet Potato Halwa

A GF substitute for classic Sooji Halwa or Rawa Kesari or Sajjige. This makes a perfect dessert for Hindu fasting (vrat or upvas). This halwa is made from boiled, mashed red sweet potatoes.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 large red sweet potatoes
  • 4-5 Finely chopped dates or use a food processor adjust to taste
  • 1 tablespoon dry roasted cashew pieces & almond slivers
  • 1 tablespoon cashew butter Optional
  • ¼ tsp cardamom powder Optional
  • A few saffron strands
  • Add 1/4-1/2 cup plant based milk to soften & moisten it if it is too dry optional

Instructions
 

  • Oven roast or steam sweet potatoes until completely cooked. Peel, mash with a fork, set aside.
  • Add finely diced dates, raisins, roasted cashew pieces and almond slivers.
  • Prasad for Bhagawan is ready, healthy, nothing processed, Gluten Free, no sugar, no butter!!!

Notes

Tip: Process 4-5 mejdool dates, pits removed in a food processor with 1 tablespoon of Almond powder. Perfectly small date pieces are achieved.
