Phirni (a Creamy Dessert)
A very creamy and rich dessert that is very easy to puttogether. Traditionally made with soaking rice and almonds, this recipe hasbeen modified to simplify the process.
Ingredients
- 1 cup white Millet, cooked
- ¼ cup Almond meal or powder
- ¼ cup Sugar or sweetener of your choice
- 2 Drops Rose essence
- 1/8 teaspoon Cardamom powder
- Slivered almonds
Instructions
- Cook Millet in a pan or Instant Pot with 4 cups of water.
- In 4Q Pan: Cover and cook for 15 mins on med. high. Once all the water is absorbed, no more water remains above the surface of the millet, reduce heat to low and allow to cook for 10 mins.
- In Instant Pot: Cook on High Pressure for 2 mins. Allow natural release of pressure.
- Add Almond Powder, Sugar or sweetener of your choice, Cardamom powder and Rose essence and cook on low until creamy.
- Garnish with slivered almonds!
- Serve cold or warm!!!
Notes
NOTE: Use chopped dates, raisins and/or figs for a more natural sweetener. Alternative to Millets is Quinoa or similar seed/grain.
